Apply for the Bursary of Alliance Française of Calgary

We invite you to apply for the AFC Bursary, a program designed to help families facing financial challenges. Our goal is to ensure that every child with a passion for learning French has the opportunity to reach their full academic potential, especially during the summer.

As a local non-profit organization with deep roots in our community, Alliance Française Calgary is proud to support young students who need help in their French language learning journey.

About the bursary

The AFC Bursary seeks to recognize and support students who are academically inclined but also show exemplary character. This year, we are happy to offer up to 10 bursaries to learners eager to immerse themselves in our Summer programs ($540 value). Beneficiaries will gain access to an immersive week-long program, along with free access to our extensive Media Library.

The Alliance Française Calgary Bursary is open to well-rounded students who demonstrate good character and and a genuine interest in advancing their French language skills.

While the AFC is keen to provide these bursaries to many students, please be aware that availability is limited and the program may reach capacity. To confirm the availability of the bursaries, we encourage you to contact our office at 403-245-5662.

Eligibility criterias

This bursary is only open to new incoming students at Alliance Française Calgary. Current AFC students are not eligible.
Applicants must between 7 and 15 years old.
Applicants must be enrolled in a Calgary public school.
They must display a strong interest in learning the French language.
Families selected face financial challenges. They may be asked to provide supporting documents.
Applications can be received for multiple children from the same family.
Applicants must show determination to complete the program.
An adherence to values such as integrity, honesty, and diversity is expected.

How to apply

Step 1

Fill out the form provided below and attach the required documentation, including a reference letter from a school sponsor.

Step 2

Submit the completed form along with the sponsor's reference letter to our Executive Director, Jean-Baptiste Roux, at director@afcalgary.ca. Please ensure that the sponsor agrees to be contacted by the AFC.

Step 3

Applicants will be notified of the decision within 2 weeks.
